The formation of national statehood, the further development of the economy and culture required constant increase qualified personnel in all areas public life. In the first years, the republic widely used the opportunity provided by the Soviet government to train specialists with higher education in the universities of Moscow, Leningrad (St. Petersburg), Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Abakan, but the key to solving the personnel problem remained general education schools providing them with qualified teachers. Thus, the training of qualified teachers on the spot has become a vital necessity for the young autonomous region.

Considering all this, the government of Tuva turned to the government of the USSR with a request to open a teacher's institute in Tuva. Despite the heavy post-war years, the Council of Ministers of the USSR issued an order (No. 22644-R of November 27, 1951), allowing in 1952 to open a teacher's institute in the city of Kyzyl and to begin construction of an educational building in 1953.
Subsequently, orders of the Ministry are issued higher education USSR dated December 6, 1951 No. 2140 and dated January 16, 1952 No. 106 “On the opening of the Kyzyl Institute” and “On the opening of branches of the Kyzyl Teachers' Institute”. By order of June 30, 1952, the Kyzyl Teachers' Institute began to function. The Institute has two departments:

a) department of language and literature

b) physics and mathematics department

With an admission plan for each department of 50 people.

On the basis of the teacher's, at the request of the party and Soviet bodies of Tuva, on September 1, 1956, a pedagogical institute was opened with two faculties: philology and physics and mathematics.

In 1959, the Faculty of Pedagogy and Methodology was opened. primary education, and since 1963 - the Faculty of Biology and Chemistry.

Since the opening of the institute, its educational and material and technical base has been continuously strengthened, the composition of teachers has been growing quantitatively and improving qualitatively.

Tyva State University (TyvGU) was established in 1995 by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation of September 30, 1995 No. 989, the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of November 2, 1995 No. 1061 and the order of the State Committee of the Russian Federation for Higher Education of November 30, 1995 No. 1600 as a result of the reorganization of the Kyzyl State Pedagogical Institute of the Ministry of Education of Russia, the Kyzyl Pedagogical College of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Tuva and the branches of the Krasnoyarsk State Technical University of the State Committee for Higher Education of Russia and the Krasnoyarsk State Agrarian University of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Russian Federation located in Kyzyl in order to:

In 2011 "Tuva State University" was renamed into "Tuva State University".
Today, Tuva State University occupies a leading position in the system of higher professional education in the Republic of Tyva. TuvGU is the only state university, rightfully considered a forge of scientific and professional personnel for various industries National economy, education and state structures of the republic. TuvGU, as a classical university of research type, within the framework of the long-term development strategy of the Republic of Tuva, should play a key role and can indeed become a unique institution of higher education and a driving force in the development of human resources, scientific research and development innovative technologies required for the republic, region and Russia.

TuvGU is located in the capital of the republic - the city of Kyzyl. formed from Kyzyl State Pedagogical Institute in the 1990s, having united the branches of KrasSTU and KrasSAU, it is rapidly increasing its scientific and technical potential in last years. Story

In the early 1950s, due to the lack of teaching staff in the post-war years, the government of Tuva turned to the government of the USSR with a request to open an institute in Tuva. On December 6, 1951, the USSR Ministry of Education issued an order "On the opening of the Kyzyl Institute", and on January 16, 1952, "On the opening of branches of the Kyzyl Teachers' Institute."

The Kyzyl Teachers' Institute began functioning on June 30, 1952. At that time, there were only two departments in it: the department of language and literature, and the department of physics and mathematics. The Institute could afford to accept only 100 applicants a year.

On September 1, 1956, the Teachers' Institute was reorganized into a Pedagogical Institute with two faculties: philology and physics and mathematics.

In 1959, the third faculty was opened - pedagogy and methods of primary education. The first graduation of 1961 presented Tuva with 85 teachers. In 1964, the Faculty of Biology and Chemistry was opened.

Over the entire period of the existence of the Pedagogical Institute, it produced about 10 thousand specialists, and in 1995, by decree of the President of Russia, the institute was transformed into a state university, which it still is.
