In 1957, Alexander Ermolov graduated from the 2nd Moscow Medical Institute named after N.I. Pirogov. For many years scientific activity A.S. Alexander Sergeevich developed a set of diagnostic and prognostic criteria for selecting patients for liver transplantation. He created new promising scientific laboratories at the institute: new surgical technologies, artificial nutrition, treatment of acute endotoxicosis, liver transplantation, emergency cardiac surgery, a department of crisis conditions and psychosomatic disorders, which allows for a comprehensive examination and treatment of the most severe groups of patients around the clock.
Identifies and coordinates the most promising scientific areas on the problems of emergency medical care and emergency surgery in Russian Federation. As the chief surgeon of Moscow, he ensures effective control over the activities of surgical departments, reorganizes the emergency surgical service, and contributes to improving the quality of its work. As the chief specialist of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation for ambulance, he prepares proposals for improving its organization. Under his leadership, the Center for Outpatient Surgery was established. Alexander Sergeevich initiated the creation of one of the first departments of endoscopy and endoscopic surgery.
Author of over 600 publications and scientific papers.
