About how to succeed in the chosen field, as well as about the craft of a hairdresser, hair cosmetics and much more, Sasha kindly agreed to tell us.

In just 10 years you have gone from an ordinary hairdresser from Bratsk to the World Champion. How did you manage to make such a successful career in such a short time?

Yes, time flew by unusually quickly, and I still don’t understand how it happened.

By the way, I was not a very ordinary hairdresser in Bratsk either. Already after three years of local work experience, I became a very valuable and famous person there. When deciding to move to Moscow, I singled out one goal for myself: there are millions of people like me in the capital, and it is imperative to stand out and excel in something, and there is only one way - diligence, patience and work on yourself.

Oh, how many there were! I worked both paid and free, took on any job that I could get, without days off and normal sleep, which I still don’t really have. I learned everything and everyone, and not only hairdressing, but everything else: speech, how to behave properly in society, in public, how to speak correctly, move and smile, I absorbed any experience that I managed to get. I learned to teach correctly and competently, as well as to present and convey any information to hairdressers in an accessible and easy way. I learned not to be afraid of the public, to love it, and to accept everything that is around me, as it is.

Then I realized that this is not enough. We need awards and titles, and, let's say, a slightly different experience in the hairdressing world, competitive. Then two endless years of training and competitions began, and, of course, victories ... Everything that I managed to earn over the weekend went to pay for the training of models and competitive costumes. I did not let go of the comb and varnish from my hands even at night!

I want to thank you for that time. This is a huge and invaluable life experience. I learned to be patient, to accept defeats and also to experience victories with dignity. This is not only a huge physical labor, it is also morally very difficult to train from morning to evening. This work is primarily on yourself, your desires, ambitions and capabilities. And somehow, unexpectedly for myself, I began to reap the benefits ...

- What prompted you to become a hairdresser?

I became a hairdresser quite by accident. I just needed a profession to get it in parallel with the 11th grade, and immediately after school to start working.

I stumbled upon the announcement of hairdressing courses just on the eve of September 1st and went to study, without having any abilities and feeling that I am a creative person. There were no special dreams. I wanted my own earned money, but with the chosen profession it was possible. I went to my own and other people's classes in other groups, and more and more I understood that only a really smart, competent and educated master could earn good money. I delved into all the topics and aspects of the craft and gradually realized that I also like it. And I'm doing it... And there's nothing better than making a profit for what you like and what you're good at!

How did your parents react to this decision?

Parents thought: indulge and pass. From the 10th grade I lived separately from them, so no one interfered with me and did not particularly delve into the training.

Since my mother is an accountant, and my father is an engineer (absolutely not creative professions), a couple of times they offered me to go to college. But after my calm refusals, they calmed down: what will be, will be. Maybe I was just very confident in my decision and spoke firmly about it. Well, the plus for my parents, of course, was that acquiring a profession, even if it was new and unusual for them, made my maintenance easier.

What famous people have you worked with? Is it true that the stars are terribly capricious, and it is very difficult to please them?

Out of professional ethics, I will not name the names of the stars with whom I worked, work and am friends. If anyone is interested, all the photos with them are on the Internet and on my website. And, of course, there are not many of them.

The stars are not so capricious. The main thing is to understand their mood and desires, to catch their state of mind, and then no difficulties will arise in the relationship. Of course, it's nice to see the fruits of your work and the smile of a star on a TV screen or in a magazine. But the smiles and happy faces of all my clients in the salon are also important to me. I do not divide clients into stars and ordinary people; For me they are all equal and important. Surrounding people make my mood and life more interesting, lively and bright!

- Your hair looks amazing. Who does your hair for you? Or is it independent work?

Thank you. Yes, I do my own hair. Yes, I cut, color and style myself. And not because I don't trust someone, it's just faster and easier. I usually do my hair in my free time, at night.

- How do you take care of your hair? What cosmetics do you use?

The most important thing is regular and properly selected care that matches my hair type. This is regular, often even daily, use of shampoo, conditioner and mask.

Two of my favorite lines, which I have not changed for many years, are oil miracle and bonscure time restore. I use all products from these series from time to time. I love them mainly because they strengthen my hair, making it luxurious and shiny. In addition, these products have an amazing texture and pleasant aroma. And for me it is very important! Two of my favorites, without which I can not do either on weekdays or on business trips, are oil miracle hair oil and time restore conditioner spray. These two products provide excellent results and, importantly, they are very easy to use.

And one more thing, I love these products not only for the visible and instant effect. Since it is very important for me that only beautiful jars stand in my bathroom, the stylish design of the packaging plays a significant role.

- What hairstyles are in trend now?

First of all, healthy and well-groomed hair is always in trend! Well, as for the salon trends of spring, they are as follows.

Fashion is cyclical, but not as fleeting as for clothes, so some trends retain their popularity and relevance for a long time, only slightly transforming and changing with each season. And now it's time to take off your hats, scarves, berets and renew the shape and color of your hair, matching the spring mood!

The main trends of spring are still the current era of golden Hollywood, modern hippies and tom fight style.

All shades of brown are popular: from the color of coffee latte to the rich color of dark wood, as well as bewitching shades of cognac and mystical chestnut. In the blond, spring, very light, fresh and barely perceptible shades of honey or peach are relevant. Metallic shades of hair are also popular (for both blondes and brunettes). Cold, sparkling and reflecting the spring sun!

The popularity of ombre and shatush staining techniques, which have ousted the classic highlights from the price lists of the salon, does not fade away. As well as a soft combination of bangs colors and the main mass of hair, when the bangs are slightly lighter or darker than the main tone, or just two-layer staining: the parietal zone is one tone, and the occipital zone is two or three shades darker. All these techniques are more than suitable for the spring season. With a soft combination of shades, they refresh the face, give the hairstyle a visual volume and color vibration.

Short haircuts that have become fashionable not so long ago also remain popular. Moreover, both sealed and torn - layered, hooligan, with different variations of bangs. Short haircuts do not look younger and visually increase growth, but with the right shape, they well correct facial features. For short haircuts this season there are no barriers to styling! Experiments and variations are popular. It can be small or large curls, strict smooth with a parting or, conversely, tousled hair, and also, as an option, light waves. Of course, the trend is the effect of wet hair.

The current square in the coming season has grown a little and lengthened. Now this is a light gradation at the ends, no bangs, natural parting and straight natural feminine styling - that's all you need to always look well-groomed! So, for such a shape and length, voluminous low tails (with additional volume in the parietal and / or occipital zone), a soft and airy low bun at the back of the head or behind the ear, as well as slightly wavy hair (natural effect) will go. And, of course, individually woven braids as a head accessory!

Owners of long hair who do not want to part with it, it is necessary to refresh the ends of the hair and cut it a little along the length. This simple move will help to add extra volume, which is now incredibly popular. Both very light natural curls and very playful, thick and voluminous curls are fashionable now. The bouffant is relevant both in volume and in the parietal zone. In addition, the trend is strict smooth tails, geometric parting and weaving. Finally, both sloppy and tight, as if wet braids on the back of the head this season are a replacement for bundles. And, of course, to refresh or slightly change the image, you can experiment with bangs. All the more popular is everything: thick, torn, long, short or very small accents in the form of bangs!

Of course, the most fashionable trend that is always relevant in all seasons is well-groomed and clean hair! Don't forget to care for, nourish and moisturize them with products that match your hair type.

A banal question that you are probably asked all the time, but still ... Alexandra, how to properly care for your hair?

Proper care is very important. The most important thing is to choose the right products for your hair type. And the main thing here is the basic means for daily home care. These are shampoo, conditioner (rinsable or leave-in spray, depending on the type and structure of the hair) and the regular use of a moisturizing or nourishing mask. In addition, to reduce hair breakage and give them elasticity, you should use oils or fluids for the tips daily, which are also selected according to the type of hair.

Of course, it is most preferable that diagnostics and assistance in choosing products are provided by a professional master, and the client is not lazy. That is, you need to use cosmetics at home correctly (in accordance with the instructions) and regularly.

Well, already some more serious caring effects on the hair can be done regularly in the salon, for example, once every two months or as needed. By the way, an effective procedure for making hair soft, smooth, and strengthening their structure - Keratin Supreme.

- What funny cases happened to you during your work as a stylist?

Oh! These situations can not be counted, you can’t even remember everything.

One of the most memorable events for me, which I am proud of, took place in Sochi, in my opinion, in 2008. Then I prepared models for the show at the Kinotavr festival. It was necessary to wind the curls of 15 long-haired models in order to then assemble them into hairstyles. Our dressing rooms were located right on the city embankment, and, accordingly, the electricity supplied to them too. So, an hour after the start of preparations, we had a power outage. And all the outlets stopped working! A huge number of brought curlers and tongs have cooled down. There were only two hours left, and something had to be done urgently! After all, you can’t change the rules, you need to decide something, and then the idea of \u200b\u200ba hairstyle came to my mind, with which you can collect hair, and most importantly, get the effect of waves. In addition, such a hairstyle was done very simply and quickly. I immediately set to work, and all the models were ready right on time. There was no limit to the gratitude from the organizers.

And finally, at the end of our conversation - the most professional question. What do you think are the pros and cons of hairdressing?

There are more benefits, of course! Everything is in our profession: beauty and creativity, communication, amazing people and fateful meetings. In addition, this is an opportunity to splash out your own feelings and sensations in the works.

And, of course, happy satisfied clients and students envelop you with a feeling of happiness every day. With our profession, you will never be alone. Hairdressing is an opportunity to create, create and create. Beauty, art - everything is in you and around you!

There is only one minus: we give ourselves so much to our favorite work and creativity that we do not pay attention to our health. But it must be protected, just for the sake of our own profession - to shine and be full of ideas and joyful emotions every day!

Dear readers of the magazine! I would like to introduce you to the world champion in hairdressing, an international master, the owner of the Cup of the Russian National Hairdressing Award in the “Female Image” nomination, the coach of the Schwarzkopf Professional Academy - Alexandra Edelberg. These are far from all the nominations, awards and titles of Alexandra.

When you interview a famous person, especially if it's the first time, it's always scary, because. you don't know how to behave. Despite the fact that I knew Alexandra in absentia for a long time, a personal meeting nevertheless changed my attitude towards her. The three hours spent in conversation flew by like an instant, because it is always interesting to listen to stories of creative development, especially successful ones. She always has something to tell, no wonder, because her professional experience is already 14 years old.

I learned a lot from the conversation. I hope that the interview will be not only informative for you, but also instructive and motivating. So, read on.

Alexandra, tell us at what age did you realize that you wanted to become a hair stylist? Where did your creative path begin?
- In parallel with the 11th grade, I went to the courses of a hairdresser-stylist, and not at all because from early childhood I knew what I wanted to do in life. I just needed such a profession, having received which, I could immediately earn money, because. At that time I lived alone and had to provide for myself. And we girls, at this age, especially want a lot of dresses, shoes, and generally have our own money.

At my school, I was the “president” and I spent almost all my free time there, solving managerial issues. By chance, I saw an announcement about the opening of courses and thought: “Well, now I will study in the 11th grade and after graduation I will immediately go to work.” And so it happened.

And I went in parallel to 2 groups: in my own and someone else's. I decided: if I work in this area and get paid for it, then I should understand this well. And I realized that I like it, and most importantly - I can do it. Why is it starting to work? Because you begin to understand well the essence of everything that happens.

I believe that there are no bad hairdressers, there are just people who have not finished their studies, lack knowledge, and absolutely everyone has abilities and they can be developed in any direction.

-First earned money. How and when did it happen?
- I earned my first money at my own graduation. From 10 am I combed my classmates and girls from the parallel class. In one day I received around 2,000 rubles - it was a lot of money for me, given that I lived on 600 rubles a month.

- What hairstyle did you have at prom?
- No matter how ridiculous it may sound, I really did not have enough time to comb my hair. As a result, I collected myself a bun (bundle) and inserted a colored hairpin into it.

-What happened after graduation?
- After graduation, I rested for a month, in August I studied design and nail extension, and already in September I went to work in a beauty salon. It so happened that we did not have so many salons in the city of Bratsk, but the 3 best ones literally fought for who I would work for, arranging intrigues for each other.

- How did your parents and friends react to your choice of profession?
- There was a very dismissive attitude towards my choice, especially from family acquaintances. They said: “Well, what kind of profession is a hairdresser? Here we have children - future lawyers, financiers, and what are you? Of course, it is insanely insulting, but with their neglect and lack of faith, they only pushed me to move towards the goal. But now, in Bratsk, they are always waiting for me, following my progress and achievements. I just want to say: “Where are your children, lawyers, financiers now?”

Among my readers there are girls who consciously want to become hair stylists, but their parents do not approve of their choice and try to set an ultimatum: either go study as a financier, or earn money for your own studies as a hairdresser.

What would you advise these girls?
I don't think it's worth arguing with your parents. Try to find a middle ground for yourself: get a higher education, because. it is never superfluous, and at the same time gain knowledge in the area in which you are interested in developing, because you never know what will come in handy in life.

It was just the opposite for me: no one forbade me to study as a hairdresser, but at the same time, no one paid for my studies at the university. Perhaps, if paid, I would go to get a higher education with pleasure and would combine it with hairdressing courses. And so all the money that I earned, I invested in myself, in my education.

The attitude to the profession of a hairdresser has long been not very good. I even know a case where a guy was embarrassed to tell his friends that his girlfriend is a hairdresser. But times are changing, and now this is a fairly prestigious profession, although the stereotype of a master in an apron with a typewriter in his hands, who stands on his feet all day, serving customers, still remains.

Why does no one have the idea that you can stand on stage with red lips in a dress with sequins on heels, doing your job and gathering hundreds of people who also want to learn how to do hairstyles?

- How did you get to Moscow?
- I have always been indifferent to Moscow, firstly, because the city of Bratsk is small, and secondly, I graduated from hairdressing courses with honors, so the doors to the best salons in the city opened before me.

Everything suited me, I had a large apartment, a good job, many connections, acquaintances, and I made good money working in the salon and at the same time taking clients at home, like all hairdressers.

And I got to Moscow thanks to one of my clients. A bit of backstory...

For three months, Schwarzkopf called me and offered cooperation, but each time I refused.

They had a misunderstanding - how is it that everyone wants to go to Moscow, but you don’t want to, because we offer you a good position in a large well-known company, assistance in development.

I tell them: “You understand, this is not the point, everything is in order here, everything suits me and I don’t want anything else.” I hung up, and the client asks me: “What happened?” I tell the whole story, and no matter how I resisted, she still insisted that I call back and give my consent. So I ended up in Moscow.

- How did Schwarzkopf find out about you?
- After I won first place at the Golden Scissors festival in the nomination "Hairstyle of long hair without the use of invisible hairpins and clips", which was held in Irkutsk, we went to Spain to the ASK Schwarzkopf Professional academy (this was the prize for winning the competition "Golden Scissors"), and then performed in Moscow at the festival "World of Beauty" in the Kremlin, the show Schwarzkopf Professional. A week after returning, I got a call from the company and made an offer.

- How did Moscow welcome you in general?
- It went pretty well for me. And I immediately bought an apartment on a mortgage, moved the dog and very quickly settled down. I didn’t have a “star fever”, as it happens with many visitors, maybe because I never really reached out to Moscow.

And now I can’t imagine another home, here I have my whole life, friends, work, connections. Even when I came to my place in Bratsk, where I studied, to conduct a seminar, I did not feel at home there. After all, home is where your apartment, comfort, things, friends are.

Is it possible, without having connections and not being in the right circles, to achieve success by just doing your job perfectly?
- It all depends on the person himself. Connections are certainly very important, but to get them, it is not always enough just to be a good specialist. Most importantly, you must always look good, even when you go to work for free photography. People are always greeted by their clothes. This is a fine line, because you can look good and be a bad craftsman, or you can be a cool craftsman and look bad at the same time.

If you did a job - for example, curls - not very well, you can eventually comb them, and if you look, to put it mildly, untidy and unkempt, then you are unlikely to correct the impression of you. You as a person should be drawn to, this is manifested in the ability to both communicate and look good. Therefore, I advise: before a meeting, before going to work, once again, do not sleep for an hour, but devote time to yourself and your appearance. Until you do it yourself, no one will do anything for you.

I have said many times in interviews that I was an “ugly duckling” as a child. One day, my parents and I went to visit friends who had a daughter three years younger than me, a fair-haired girl with pink cheeks, and we were seated side by side to take a picture. Then there was still a Polaroid camera, and when the photo appeared, I realized - God, what a terrible child I am!

And it's good that I realized it right then. There was no mother, no sister, no one who could help me, tell me. Then I began to buy magazines and draw ideas for myself from there.

By the way, magazines are still a kind of fetish for me, I constantly buy them. All the shelves and cabinets are already full in my house, but I can’t do anything with myself.

And what is stopping you from changing yourself, making it even better? Yes, this is a huge work on herself, and she needs to constantly learn, overcoming laziness and not coming up with various excuses - she was tired, slept little, etc.

You have a lot of diplomas, certificates of passing various courses. Is it worth chasing quantity, or is there a limit to everything?

- Once I returned from the next training and laid out all my diplomas and certificates in front of me, there were about 50 of them at that time. I thought: “My God, when will I get that teacher who will teach me how to scratch so that everyone in the district just gasps?” Having slept with this thought, in the morning I realized that it was not the teachers at all, I have so much knowledge in my head and so much material that I simply do not use. I was waiting for everything to be brought to me on a silver platter and put everything on the shelves ... It turns out that you just need to skillfully use your knowledge, not be lazy and train a lot.

- Could you have imagined before that you would become a world champion?
- For me, all my goals seemed unattainable and supernatural. It was hard to imagine that I would someday become a world champion. And now you understand that everything that you have achieved, you did yourself, and sometimes you wonder - how could I do it? And absolutely everyone can do it, the main thing is to make a choice for yourself. Of course, you will have to sacrifice something, but you yourself must understand whether it is worth it or not, whether you want it or not?

- Do you consider yourself successful?
- I do not consider myself a successful and public person. Maybe, on the one hand, this is good - it means that there is no limit to perfection. I don't think I've achieved more than anything. Of course, sometimes I wonder how I managed to do all this? Where did I get so much money? And when you remember your condition, that you slept only three hours a day and immediately went to work, then you understand - well, probably yes, it's possible, since it happened. But it always seems like it's not enough.

Your list of merit, awards, participation in various events is very long. Is there anything you haven't done yet but plan to do in the near future?
- Yes, I would also like to receive a cup at the Russian Hairdressing Award, I have already submitted an application for participation, I hope everything will work out for me.

Since 2009, five years have already passed since I became the owner of the Cup of the Russian National Hairdressing Art Award in the “Women's Image” nomination. It's time to put an end to it - especially since every year I am nominated.

This year, for the first time, I am sending an application with my collection to the AIPP competition (international competition) - I hope there will be something interesting, I want to reach another level.

To be honest, competitions are no longer interesting to me. I stopped in time, because this way you can endlessly chase awards. I received a medal from each competition and I think that this is enough. Every year there are so many champions from different parts of the world, so there is no need to chase, you got your piece - you need to give others such an opportunity. And to direct my forces in a different direction, in my case, this is the development and creation of hair accessories.

- Are you planning to release your own book?
- Literally the other day we exchanged letters with Alisa Zhuravleva - this is an editor, she helps many stars write and edit their books. We met her and began to develop almost at the same time. She tells me all the time: “Sasha, you definitely need to write a book. You always have something to tell, something to talk about, and moreover, something that you can’t think of on purpose. ”

And it all started with articles. I thought that something else needs to be done, and I wrote one, then the second article. They caused a stir on the Internet, many publications ask for permission to publish them, and colleagues call and ask for continuation. Everyone was especially intrigued by the series of articles “Arabic Notes of a Moscow Hairdresser”. If you haven't already done so, I encourage everyone to read it.

Now I am thinking about writing a book, I have even started a little, but it will definitely not be a book for hairdressers, because almost all of my colleagues write them. In addition, I believe that nothing can replace personal communication, and certainly not a book.

Write novels about your personal life? I doubt. I started doing this two years ago, and wrote quite a lot. But doing it on my own when I'm busy is not an option. Perhaps this summer I will continue to write, but already with Alice.

Many people at master classes and seminars ask me to give a lecture on how to succeed. What a success, what are you talking about? I have an apartment in a mortgage, I don’t have a family, but, apparently, I still need to write a book on how to come to all this, how to combine work with personal life, family. Most likely, there will be a little bit of everything in the book.

- How are your master classes, seminars?
- When I start to conduct a seminar, I honestly and openly say that it is impossible to teach how to make hairstyles, sculpt sculptures, draw pictures ... This is all based on personal feelings, visual perception. Yes, there are certain rules that must be followed, but to become a true professional, this is not enough.

When I come up with accessories, I imagine how they will sit on my client, how they will change when changing position - this is all at the level of visual perception. It is the same with hairstyles, braids - not a single man will count how many strands a braid is made of - five or six, or maybe three? What is important is the general perception, the feeling - whether you like it or not.

In haircuts and coloring, I also resort to this visual attitude. I can't say that I'm a super technician. The overall impression that comes from a haircut, from a hairstyle is important to me ... It's hard to explain on the fingers. And I always tell my students that it is not the technique itself that is important, but something completely different. No one will teach you exactly how thick a strand should be for a certain pigtail, should it lie on top or slightly lower. All this comes with experience and practice. You just need to constantly develop this feeling in yourself.

I am often asked to show something new at seminars. What is "new"? How were these braids, plaits, curls - nothing new has yet been invented. And in general, it is enough to have brains, to know how to properly collect the tail and make one flagellum, and you can do new hairstyles every time for the rest of your life, which will change depending on the number of tails, braids, volume.

All this comes from personal experience. At one time, I was also constantly looking for new teachers, new ideas. Over time, you begin to think - what new are you looking for? It doesn't give you anything. Learn to use the old first, and then you will be able to create something new yourself. It's all about yourself, in your head. You can prompt, direct, change consciousness, everything else will depend only on you.

At my master classes, seminars, when I show hairstyles, demonstrate my accessories, I always urge people, especially creative professions, not to stop at one thing. After all, when a person goes to study at an art school, they teach him to draw with chalk, and pencils, and watercolors, and oils, and paints. And he already determines what is closer to him. It's the same with hairstyles and accessories - you have to understand and understand absolutely everything, but do something different.

Judging by the letters that come to me, I manage to inspire people, change their attitude, attitude to the profession, to hairstyles. This, I believe, is the main task of a professional, a teacher.

-How to develop your imagination?
- Two years ago I was at a friend's wedding in St. Petersburg. The celebration took place in the rented estate of Tsarskoye Selo. As always, I arrived early in order to have time to comb everyone, and decided to walk around the estate. And while walking, I remembered Pushkin. Before, it seemed to me: since you, Pushkin, are such a genius, why didn’t you write in other places, what is there in Tsarskoye Selo that is not in other places? And I realized that for a creative person, especially with a subtle sense of perception, it is very important to be where he is comfortable. Then new ideas are born much easier.

It's always different for me. It could be the magazines that filled my entire apartment. And I don’t focus only on professional magazines, because. I think that many, especially beginners, masters, such magazines can confuse, confuse. They see a beautiful picture in a popular magazine and think that this is what they should do, since it was published here, and thus they put themselves in a box.

I really like to travel, and when I get the opportunity, I definitely visit various museums. Each such trip always gives me something. When I was in Yerevan, I accidentally came across the Dali exhibition: it consisted of only three paintings, and a huge corridor with sketches of this painting led to each painting. There were about 50 of them, and the changes were not only in size, but in the smallest details, paints, colors. This suggests that the man, despite his genius, was not afraid to show the world his work, which for many was incomprehensible. Before he reached the result he aspired to, how many times he doubted, experimented, tried ...

It’s the same with hairstyles - what’s stopping you from twisting the details, twisting, thinking out? All recognized people were not afraid to do anything.

Sometimes my colleagues and I do the work and think to ourselves: “What kind of nonsense?”, And at the same time people look and think: “That's great!” What's stopping you?

You might be thinking, “Who am I? If I did badly, then they will think badly. You are constantly afraid of what your colleagues, client, mother of the bride will think of you. You don't ever have to think about it. Perhaps this is the reason for the development.

A little last tip: Professionalism in creating hairstyles is not to break away and show everything that you can do on one head, but on the contrary - using one base, one element, to do a decent job. And that's what you need to learn!

We thank Alexandra for letting me into her world full of adventures and love for her work. It is clear without further ado that Alexandra is a very purposeful person and she is used to achieving each of her goals. We wish her to put her bold points where planned, and always remain as charming, cheerful and sympathetic. Good luck in everything!

And you will very soon be able to see the second part of the interview with Alexandra, which is dedicated to her new occupation - hair accessories. Do not miss!

“Create, draw inspiration and inspire others! Perfection is achieved by experience, and I hope that you will never stop on this sometimes difficult, but such an interesting path.
