Augean stables from which myth. Myths of Ancient Greece. How did Hercules clean the Augean stables? Burdock - Hercules Cleansing the Augean Stables

Hercules feasted merrily in the palace of Eurystheus, and the rumor about his amazing exploits rolled from kingdom to kingdom, from city to city, to the very ends of the earth. People and gods everywhere glorified the hero. But the more they talked about him, the more Eurystheus envied him. The evil king saw that the son of Zeus could do any feat. Moreover, he felt how the mighty servant despised his cowardly master. And he finally decided to lime Hercules with overwork.

Gloomy and angry, Eurystheus walked from corner to corner for days on end, thinking about where to send the hero, how to disgrace him in front of all people. Every night, Eurystheus drank a whole bowl of sleeping pills in order to quickly see the insidious Hera in a dream.

But the goddess herself could not think of anything, and Tsar Eurystheus instead had various stupid dreams. From this, he woke up even more angry than he had been in the evening, and in the morning he began to beat all the courtiers with his staff.

Everyone who sat at the feast persuaded Hercules to abandon the stupid idea, believing that he would definitely lose, but the mighty hero accepted the king's challenge.

As soon as morning dawned, he took a shovel, asked the slaves for an ax and went through the city into the forest, which grew in the valley between two rivers. As he walked through the streets, people leaned out of the doors of houses, from behind the columns of temples and, choking with laughter, pointed their fingers at him. But the hero paid no attention to them. Breaking into the very thicket of the forest, he began to cut and fell trees one after another. By noon the whole forest was cut down. Only fresh stumps stuck out of the moss.

Having finished the felling, Hercules dumped the thick logs in a heap, wrapped his arms around them and carried them to the shore of Peneus. There he threw them into the water, showered them with earth and stones, and completely blocked the river. Then he built a dam on Alfea.

The whole city came running to look at the work of Hercules. Seeing how he was carrying heavy logs, the merry townspeople stopped laughing. They shook their heads, not understanding why Hercules needed dams, and said that the famous hero must have gone mad.

The sun was already setting when Hercules completed both dams.

He shouted to the shepherds to quickly drive all the bulls out of the stalls and open the gates as wide as possible. Then Hercules calmly sat down on the bank and began to watch how the turbulent waters of both rivers, arriving every minute, rose to the very top of the dam. The water seethed and bubbled, trying to drive away the heavy logs. Meanwhile, Avgiy came to see what Hercules had done in a day. Seeing the dams, the king only shrugged his shoulders, and everyone agreed that Hercules, obviously, really was crazy: after all, the sun was already setting, and he still did not think to start cleaning the stalls. But as soon as the sun touched the earth, the rivers gushed over the dams. Their waters roared into one mighty stream and flooded the valley, in the middle of which stood the Augean stable. Whirling and foaming, the stream rushed through the gates of the dirty stables and, before the people had time to come to their senses, washed away all the manure and carried it through the second gate into a wide field. The very thing that people could not do in a year, the rivers did in half an hour. The stalls of King Augeas were cleared.

Then Hercules destroyed the dams and, calming the seething waters, returned the streams to their former channels. The water has subsided. The glade immediately dried up, and Augeas, and with him all the people, saw through the wide-open gates the stalls so cleanly washed, as if the bulls themselves had licked them with their rough tongues.

The news of this feat of Hercules rolled throughout the country. Blind singers sang about him, sitting in the dust in the sun at the city gates. Mothers told their daughters about him, and fathers told their sons. But the heart of the hero himself was restless. After all, the blood of the children he had killed still troubled his conscience. Six great things were done by his powerful hands. Many times he looked into the eyes of death. But it is always easier to commit a bad deed than to make amends later. This must never be forgotten.

It was necessary to perform many more feats before Hercules could receive the desired forgiveness. I had to hurry. The great hero did not want to grow old and die without completing the lesson assigned to him by the gods.

That's why he didn't argue with the greedy miser Augeas when he refused to pay him to clear the stalls.

Rejoice, O king of misers! - the hero said to Augeas with contempt. - I don't have time now to insist on my truth. But beware of the day when I will accomplish my twelfth labor. Then I'll come back here and you'll regret your deceit...

Having said this, he left Elis and went back to Eurysthes.

These are real Augean stables.

Augean stables

Augean stables
From ancient Greek mythology. The hero Hercules (Rom. - Hercules) once cleaned the vast stables of the Elis king (Elis - a region of Greece) Avgii, which had not been cleaned for 30 years. Hercules did not do what was expected of him: he did not use his strength, but the energy of two rivers - Alpheus and Peneus. First he blocked them with dams, and then directed the water to the stables. A powerful stream washed away all the impurities, and thus Hercules did the job in just one day. This was the seventh feat of Hercules during the time when he was in the service of King Eurystheus.
For the first time this myth was expounded by the ancient Greek historian Diodorus Siculus (I century BC), and the expression became winged in antiquity: it was used by Seneca (“Satire on the death of Emperor Claudius”), Lucian (“Alexander”) and others

Augean stables

In Greek mythology, the Augean Stables are the vast stables of Augius, king of Elis, which have not been cleaned for many years. They were cleansed in one day by the hero Heracles (Hercules): he sent a river through the stables, the waters of which carried away all the manure. This myth was first reported by the Greek historian Diodorus Siculus (1st century BC). The expression "Augean stables" that arose from here is used to denote a very dirty room, as well as severe neglect, clogging, disorder in matters that require great effort to eliminate them; it became winged in ancient times

But the goddess herself could not think of anything, and instead of her, King Eurystheus had various stupid dreams. From this, he woke up even angrier than he had been in the evening, and in the morning he began to beat all the courtiers with his staff.

Finally, Hera went for advice to the cunning god of merchants - Hermes. The son of Zeus, Hermes loved his brother Hercules, but even more he loved to invent for people and gods all sorts of cunning tasks that could not be solved in any way.

After listening to Hera, Hermes smiled and said that it was not at all difficult to find an impossible task for Hercules. One has only to send him to Elis to King Augeus and order him to clean the stables in which the king kept a herd of his magic bulls from manure. Nobody ever cleaned the Augean stables, and over the years they have accumulated such a thickness of manure that no human life would have been enough for this work.

As soon as Hercules looks into the stalls, Hermes assured Hera, he will refuse to remove the manure. You have to be completely crazy to take on such a hopeless case.

The delighted Hera immediately appeared to Eurystheus in a dream, and the king, jumping up, sent Hercules straight from the feast to clean the Augean stables.

Upon learning of such an unpleasant and dirty job, Hercules was very offended. Like many young people, he considered feats only those deeds where there are many dangers, the whistle of arrows and the clanging of swords. He never refused a real feat, but he did not want to dig in the manure at all. However, the wise goddess Athena whispered to him that this was a very useful thing for people. And every useful deed, especially if it is not easy to do, is a real feat.

Thinking, Hercules remembered what promise he once made to himself, silently took a large shovel, lifted it on his shoulder and went to Avgiy.

King Augeus was the richest king on earth, because his father gave him three thousand bulls as white as snow, two thousand bulls as red as blood, and another special one that shone like a star at night.

All the bulls were so big and ferocious that not a single person could enter their stalls. From this, the animals were overgrown with manure and mud to the very ridges.

The heavy smell of rotten straw rose from the stables, and the people in the vicinity groaned, choking on these noxious fumes.

Having appeared in Elis, Hercules wandered around the stables all day, listening to the menacing roar of magical bulls and the ringing of golden chains with which they were chained to the stalls. He examined the whole valley behind the stables and the mountain, from which they ran, as if chasing each other, two stormy rivers - Alpheus and Peneus. Having looked at everything that he needed, Hercules came to King Avgiy and very calmly told him that he was undertaking to clear the huge stalls in one day, if only the royal shepherds could drive the bulls out of there.

Hearing the boastful speech of Hercules, Augeas laughed so loudly that even his bulls answered him with a friendly roar. Following the king, the guests who sat with Avgiy at the table also laughed, and their laughter was no weaker than the lowing of bulls: people in those days knew how to laugh well. And behind the guests, the slaves and servants began to grab their sides, rolling with laughter. Running out of the palace, they told the soldiers about how foolishly Hercules was boasting. The warriors threw their shields on the ground and burst into merry laughter. Soon the whole city was making fun of Hercules, and the magic bulls were trampling around in their stalls and roaring like a storm. But Hercules was not embarrassed by these ridicule. He sat down at the table without any invitation, and while people laughed at him, he ate and drank as much as he wanted.

Having finished laughing, Augeas wiped his eyes and suggested that Hercules bet with him that he would not clean the stables even for a whole year. Avgiy was so sure of this that he promised Hercules a tenth of his bulls, if only the hero could keep his boastful word. And if Hercules loses, he must give the king his only treasure - golden armor and the skin of the Nemean lion.

Cleansing the Augean stables

Myth

In the Place of Rest, the Great Presiding One radiated the radiance of his exalted thought. The teacher approached him.

One fire must light the other forty-nine - said the Great Chairman.

Let it be so, - answered the teacher. - Having managed to light his own lamp, Hercules must now bring the Light to others.

Soon the Teacher called Heracles.

The Wheel has turned eleven times, and now you are standing in front of the next Gate. For a long time you followed the Fire, which flickered at first uncertainly, then grew to the stability of a beacon, and now shines for you like a bright Sun. Turn your back on that brightness now; turn your feet; and return to those for whom the Light is nothing more than a fluctuating point; help them make it brighter. Direct your steps towards Augeas, whose realm must be cleansed of ancient evil. I said.

And Hercules went through the Eleventh Gate in search of King Avgiy.

When Hercules approached the kingdom where Augeas ruled, a terrible stench hit his nose, almost depriving him of his senses. He was told that for many years King Avgiy did not remove the manure that his herds left in the stables. Soon the fields became so polluted that no crop could be grown on them. As a result, a fatal infection spread across the earth, claiming many human lives.

Then Hercules went to the palace and found Augeus. Upon learning that Hercules was ready to clean out the polluted stables, Augeas expressed doubt and distrust.

Are you saying that you will complete this most difficult task without any reward? - he asked suspiciously. - I don't trust such braggarts. Cunning plan you conceived, O Hercules, to take my throne from me. I have not heard of people who would be willing to serve the world without a reward. However, I am ready to welcome any fool who agrees to help me. But it is necessary to conclude an agreement, otherwise I will be denounced as a stupid king. If you do in one day what you promise, one tenth of my huge herd will be yours; but if you fail, your life and fortune will be in my hands. Of course, I don't think you will do what you say, but you can test your skill.

Hercules left the king. He walked through the infected area and saw carts loaded with the dead bodies of plague victims.

Nearby, as he noticed, two rivers flowed, Alpheus and Peneus. As he stood on the bank of one of them, the solution to his problem flashed through his mind.

Hercules worked tirelessly, and finally, at the cost of great effort, he managed to turn the course of the rivers away from the channel along which they had flowed for many centuries. The waters of Alpheus and Peneus gushed straight into the stables of King Augeas full of manure. Stormy streams washed away all the dirt accumulated over the years. The kingdom was freed from the deadly plague. In one day, an impossible task was accomplished.

When Hercules, quite satisfied with the result, returned to Augeas, the latter frowned with displeasure.

You succeeded by cunning - shouted the king in anger. - It was the rivers that did all the work, not you! This is a lie - to take my cattle from me is a conspiracy against my throne. You won't get your reward. Go away or I'll cut off your head.

So the enraged king drove Hercules out of the kingdom and ordered him never to cross his borders again on pain of death. Having completed the task, the son of man, who was also the Son of God, returned to where he came from.

You became a servant of the world, - said the Master as Hercules approached. - You continued the Path by going back; you came to the House of Light, but by a different path; you have spent your Light so that the Light of others may shine. The treasure that gives the eleventh feat is yours forever.

Energy of Aquarius

(A.A.B. Lecture 1937)

In the New Testament there is an expression "the end of the world." Now many are just beginning to understand its meaning, namely, that the sign of Pisces, in which Christ, the Great Savior of the World, appeared in our world, will end at a certain time, and we are now just approaching this time. We will not face the Day of Judgment, in which the sheep will be separated from the goats, and one will go to the kingdom of heaven, and the other to hell. There are many funny interpretations of biblical symbols.

For some reason, it was believed that sheep would go to heaven, and goats to hell. But it's quite the opposite. The goat in Capricorn is the initiate, and from a certain esoteric point of view it is the goats that go to heaven because they operate in the spiritual realm which is heaven; and the sheep remain on earth (which after all is the only hell that can be predicted) until they cease to be sheep, until they learn to have thoughts of their own, at which time they become goats, climb a mountain, and change their position as followers to that of an independent seeker. .

The entrance to heaven is the entrance to the age of Aquarius, which began in the last two hundred years. They say that around the year 2000, our Polar Star and another star (Vega) will come into conjunction with each other in the sky, and the age of Aquarius will come for us, but it will come only in the sense that we will enter it, and the forces of Pisces will quickly fade . Everything that happens on the physical plane of expression will owe its existence to subjective forces.

There is a school of thought that traces all the mysteries, all the teachings that we now call the Ageless Wisdom, down to various forms of animal worship and temple mysteries of the baser and sexual persuasion. I won't go into details, but I want to tell you about something that I feel is vital to understand, because it will develop more and more in the Aquarian age. It's one thing to obey a blind force, it's another - have an intelligent vision of what is happening and understand and notice certain possibilities. Perhaps for the first time in the history of our race, there are a sufficient number of intelligent men and women who are able to foresee events. They have an understanding based on what has happened in the past, and this enables them to predict what will happen in the future.

What caused the worship of the calf in the sign of Taurus? It is by no means the animal nature of mankind that chose the bull as a symbol of animal nature and deified him, as the average person who studies the mysteries can say. It was the influence of the subjective forces that affected our planet when the Sun passed through the sign of Taurus. The lesson for man was that the symbol of the calf meant the struggle with the animal in oneself.

Our Sun then moved into Aries, the ram, and we moved on to the sacrifice of the lamb. And we began to sacrifice the lamb, thus showing that sacrificing animal nature replaces the concept of fighting it.

The Sun then moved into Pisces. The forces acting at that time on our planet revealed to the consciousness of man his essential duality and the relationship between the two parts of his "I" - two fish tied together. This consciousness, on a larger scale, began to exert its influence on the human being - both on his Soul and on his body. Christ came in Pisces to perfectly demonstrate to us what should be our highest achievement when we thus bind these two together; the fish-Avatar is the symbol of the highest individuality, and the fish swimming in matter is the symbol of the human being in incarnation. . Such is the story.

Having traced this wonderful, idealistic evolutionary teaching over the past five to six thousand years, having realized it as the result of subjective forces affecting humanity, we now move into the sign of Aquarius, where, through the symbolism of water and purification, we will learn how to become a Soul, not a human being. This is what will happen in Aquarius.

Can you imagine what humanity will be like at the end of the Aquarian age, approximately two thousand five hundred years from now? The animal nature, the emotional nature and the mind will become secondary, and the Soul, the aspect of consciousness, that universal impulse in each of us that connects us to God, will come to the fore. In other words, we will leave the human realm behind, and although we may live in bodies, our consciousness will be focused in the fifth realm in nature, the Spiritual realm. This is the prophecy of what awaits humanity ahead, in two and a half millennia.

Opposite sign of Aquarius - Leo, the sign of the individual, a person who has realized himself as a human being. He stood on his own feet; he was the center of his universe; the stars revolved around him, everything happened in connection with him. In doing so, he learned some great lessons: that he may not be as important as he thought, and that with some training, he can gain a greater "I"; so he entered the sign of Scorpio, where he was put to the test to see if he had enough perseverance. The prominent characteristic of an aspirant - patience, and the sign that calls for the most endurance is Scorpio. The aspirant is victorious in Scorpio, and in Sagittarius he becomes the aspiring disciple who, having set to work, can't turn back; he may want to, but he cannot turn. He goes forward and thus ascends to the top of the mountain in Capricorn, where the Transfiguration takes place.

In Aquarius the disciple becomes a ministering Master. We will return again to the subject of world Saviors in Pisces. In Aquarius, a person is a Master of service. This is the motto and I want you to remember it. He can be a Master because he has learned to serve, and he can serve because he is a Master. These two qualities go hand in hand.

Ruler of the first decade of Aquarius - Saturn. Saturn gives us discipline; Saturn opens the door of opportunity for us. Through spiritual exercises and trials, Saturn strengthens our spiritual strength and allows us to come out of darkness into Light.

hallmarks of an initiate

As an initiate, Heracles undertakes to do three things which can be summed up as the outstanding characteristics of all true initiates. If they are not present in a person at least to some extent, then he is not an initiate.

1. Selfless Service . This is not the service we do because we have heard that service is the way to liberation; we do it because our consciousness is no longer directed at ourselves. We are no longer interested in ourselves, our consciousness has become universal, and there is nothing left for us but to delve into the troubles of our fellows and help them. For a true teacher in Aquarius, this will not be difficult.

2. group work . This is something we still have little idea about. The world is full of organizations, societies, and fraternities that provide excellent training grounds for ambitious people. I don't want to be judgmental, but my experience with regular bands is that it's a hotbed of jealousy, a haven for people who want to impress others with the sheer volume of their knowledge and the miracle of their life's sacrifice. This is not group work.

Group work in its spiritual aspect consists in doing your own business or business for the benefit of a particular part of humanity with which we associate ourselves, completely forgetting about our own "I". It denies ambition, denies promotion in any organization, denies any official privileges. I don't think that the new groups will have any officials in their composition, rather they will work through intuitive spiritual interaction between the minds of the group members. We don't know anything about this yet.

Can you imagine a group so closely united on spiritual levels that all letters, articles, books, etc. will not be needed at all; that the understanding between the minds of the members of the group will be perfect? This will be the group of the Age of Aquarius, but so far it is not.

3. self-sacrifice . The meaning of self-sacrifice is to make a person spiritualized. It refers both to the "I" of the group and to the "I" of the individual; it is the work of an initiate.

From the top of the mountain in Capricorn, Hercules had to descend literally into the material mud to clean out the stables of Augeia. I want to give you an idea about his psychology. He climbed to the top of the mountain. He has passed all the great trials, passed from Capricorn to the Spiritual realm, and to some extent has known the meaning of mystical ecstasy, and in this highly spiritual state, he needs to go downstairs and clean the stables. What a contrast! Not some great job for the world, but cleaning the stables.

The meaning of the test can be defined as follows: Hercules had to help in the purification of the world by the right direction of the forces of Life through it. Note that we are entering an Aquarian age where materialism as we know it will have to die out completely and where all life will be explained in terms of energies. We deal exclusively with forces. Perhaps we will have another language, a symbolic language of energy itself.

We will all be practicing occultists, and an occultist is one who lives and works in the world of forces, starting with the forces within oneself. You will get some idea of what is called mastery of powers if you watch your speech. Why are you raising your voice when you're worried? Because the energy passing through you affects your vocal apparatus. You are dealing with energies and you are misusing energies. Watch yourself and begin to work in the world of forces contained within you.

The sign of Aquarius establishes the school of world Saviors. It's almost a sign of "John the Baptist," a sign of preparation for what the next Piscean age is about to bring us.

Aquarius is depicted as a man holding a tilted jug. A man tilts a jug, and two streams of water flow from there. - the river of Life and the river of Love, and these two words - "Life" and "Love" - embody the technique of the Aquarian age; not form, not mind, but Life and Love. These are two words that we use all the time, but which, as a rule, do not carry the true meaning.

Decades, rulers and constellations

Like other signs, Aquarius is divided into three decades. Now we are entering the first of them, ruled by Saturn, hence our current difficulties, our political clashes, the division of the world arena into large groups of people, some of whom are nationalists and patriots, and some are beginning to be imbued with the spirit of internationalism. In the churches, in the religious field, we again see a division between those who feel the universality of Divine Love and those who bow to authority or dogma.

In the field of economics, Saturn also brought many problems and clashes between those who gravitate towards material things and those who are ready to give them up for something more important; between those who seize more and more property for themselves, who accumulate and store, and those who do not care about it, desiring to acquire what Christ called "treasures of heaven." In almost every field of thought, we find these two driving forces, a consequence of the influence of the energies of Pisces and Aquarius. There are two different groups: those who are attached to the past and therefore to the material aspect, and those who have a vision, who begin to see Life, Consciousness, Purpose and Design manifest through themselves.

It is wonderful if you comprehend the world intuitively, if you keep up with what is happening in one part of humanity or another; then you will see that, despite external difficulties and difficult events, the Spirit of a person remains solid and pure, shows proper energy, and we move on. But don't think it will happen in a week or a year! We can wait for better conditions, improvements here and there, or even everywhere. It depends on us how quickly we learn the lesson that allows us to move, respectively, from the Age of Pisces. - century of materialism and power, possessiveness and mentality, into the age of spirituality, intuition and universal (universal) consciousness.

The second decade of Aquarius is ruled by Mercury, and enlightenment will come in our time. The enlightenment that came in Leo, in the opposite sign of Aquarius, was "I am I" - that enlightenment we call self-consciousness. In Aquarius comes enlightenment “I am That”, I am the group consciousness. My self-consciousness is gone, my individuality no longer matters, my personality is just a mechanism, and my consciousness is one with all that exists.

In the third decade, ruled by Venus, we will witness the emergence of an all-encompassing love. Two thousand years from now, we will be able to truly express brotherly love. It will be, it must be a fait accompli before humanity generally can move into the sign of Capricorn. It will enter this sign in the spirit of love. The individual aspirant cannot receive initiation until he has learned to love unselfishly, to love not only those who think like him and act according to his desires.

Legislators

There are two legislators in the Zodiac - Regulus and Kef. In Leo is one of the four royal stars, Regulus, the legislator, the law for the individual, the law of selfishness, if you will, the law of competition, the law that sets man against all others, which makes him grab and rob, the law by which we live is the law competition.

Regulus, the law of the individual, must give way to Kefu, the law of Aquarius, and we will have a New Law based on suffering, enlightenment and love. I wonder if you yourself can understand what these laws will be based on the suffering of the individual, causing him to lose interest in himself. If you have suffered enough, you no longer care about yourself. You understand that the only way to happiness is not to be free from suffering, but to dissolve into something outside of you.

The Law of Aquarius is based on spiritual enlightenment, intuitive perception and brotherly love, which is identified with every form in every kingdom in nature. A great future is ahead of us; two and a half thousand years will bear fruit. We're on our way.

Remember, the more refined and refined the forms through which life operates, the faster the reaction. That is why we have such a rate of change in every area of life, why we are under such stress. We still have Pisces bodies, and we are trying to vibrate in accordance with the age of Aquarius. We are not yet Aquarius, there are no true Aquarians yet, we are not yet sufficiently prepared. Only a few of the children now being born have the corresponding characteristics, but even these are few and they are in an intermediate stage.

The Age of Aquarius will manifest throughout the world; Aquarius will be born everywhere, because in every part of the planet the subjective Spirit is manifesting. It is possible that there will be focal points of energy in America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, but what will actually happen is beginning to materialize around the world, in every kingdom of nature, among people and other life forms, mingling under a new influence of Aquarius. A wonderful event is taking place; so let's do everything we can to prepare the world so that our children and our children's children can see all this happen.

Christ expressed the idea "for all time" when he said: "I give you a new commandment: love one another." Eleventh commandment, eleventh sign. Only now do we understand what a wonderful astrologer Christ was. He knew that the cycle he had proclaimed would pass away, that a new method of work would have to emerge when the Masters found a new way of contacting humanity, and even then prepared the way for his own subsequent work.

There are three constellations in Aquarius. The first of them is the Southern Fish, Pisces Australes, depicting in connection with Aquarius the coming of the world Saviors. Notice that here at the culmination of Pisces, we have one fish, the Avatar, and not two fish tied together. The second constellation is Pegasus, the winged horse, always an inspiring symbol of higher intelligence and love, starting from the earth; the air is his home. At the lowest level, it reminds us of the winged sandals of Mercury, as well as the wings of the mind. - we must not forget that one of the definitions of love was "the cold clear light of reason." The third constellation goes even further in its meaning, because it is Cygnus, Cygnus flying in the sky. The Swan of Eternity, flying in time and space, is a symbol of Life itself, purifying the “living waters” of Aquarius.

Test interpretation

Augeas, the son of Neptune, the god of the waters and the sun, kept herds of animals whose stables had not been cleaned for thirty years, so that the dung accumulated inside. Hercules was instructed to do something about it. Many people have tried to clean out the stables and failed, it has always been beyond their power.

Being initiated and having, accordingly, enough common sense, Hercules descended from the top of the mountain and considered his task, in addition, he studied how the stables are arranged.

First he destroyed the wall surrounding the stables, then he made two large holes in the opposite walls and turned two rivers right at them. He did not try to endure mud and wash like the others, but overcame all obstacles with the help of two rivers. Without further effort on his part, the stables were cleaned out.

Very pleased with himself, Hercules rushed to Augeus and shouted: “I have cleaned the stables, they are absolutely clean!” We learn that Augeas refused to acknowledge his merit, saying that it was a trick.

It can be said that the nature of the emotional desires of that great Life in which we live, and move, and have our being, also contains herds of animals that respond to the name of human beings!

In my opinion, the word God, three small letters, is only a symbol. I do not pretend to know what this symbol means, but I know that for me it is a symbol of Life, which is unchanging in all its forms and at the same time transcendent. I am one of the herd of animals kept by Augius, and the stables in which the animals live have not been cleaned for 30 years. Here we have 3 times 10, where 3 is the personality number and 10 - completion number.

What if I told you that now, in our day, humanity for the first time has become a coordinated complete whole, with the mind, emotional nature and physical body acting as one, and that our stables have not been cleaned for 30 years?

What are two things that Hercules did? He broke down the barriers. This is the first thing that will happen in the Age of Aquarius. We are just starting to do this. We are just beginning to think in broad categories, leaving our disunity. Groups of men and women are emerging all over the world who are fighting with themselves to achieve broadness of thought, because in the Aquarian age, nations as we now know them will have to withdraw, nations fighting for themselves and their interests, warring against other nations. . The cultivation of patriotism, which is often the cultivation of hatred, will depart. We must teach. We teach people that they are human beings with certain responsibilities placed on them, yes; but we can begin to get the bigger picture by developing the consciousness of humanity as a whole. As Browning says:

“Humanity is made up of all individuals,
On such unity the picture ends.”

It has to happen in Aquarius, it's ahead of us, it's what the UN, international peace movements and various groups in the field of religion, politics and economics are working for; it is the destruction of prejudices and teaching the ability to think in international categories, in general. The destruction of barriers in a broad sense should be made by public opinion, and it is characterized by a slow growth rate and great emotionality - this is the whole problem.

In the age of Aquarius, especially in the second decade, when Mercury rules, the messenger from the Soul to the brain through the mind, public opinion will be formed by reason, not emotions, and we will have a world full of thinkers. The task of those who write and think in these directions, and there are already thousands of them in the world, is to start thinking constructively in the right directions, so as to create a foundation for the forces and energies pouring into us. This is how we will build the future.

Inclusive consciousness does not mean human consciousness - it is something more: you have to become aware of time. There will come a time in Aquarius when the past, present, and future will completely die out, and we will have an eternal present. It will include every area and aspect of consciousness that we can call strictly human. This is the position of the humanist, as I understand it; it says "Let's be truly human" before attempting to become superhuman. We are now just emotional, watery, fluid creatures who are not yet enlightened, struggling against disunity. We cannot yet have world consciousness, be in resonance with every phase of human thought. Someday we will be like this.

Let me ask you a question. Are you able to intelligently, with sympathy and understanding, penetrate the consciousness of the closest members of your family and find out why they think this way and not otherwise, why they behave in a certain way in certain circumstances? Cultivate the spirit of Aquarius in yourself to give people freedom, cultivate the ability to trust in yourself. Eliminate distrust of those with whom you are connected, believe in them, and they will not let you down. You only have to assume bad motives in them, and they will live up to your expectations, and it will be your own fault. Let's be as fair as possible with the Light that we have. Let's cultivate the spirit of Aquarius - the spirit of unity, love, understanding, reason, a spirit free from authority, highlighting in every human being with whom we communicate, all the best that is in it. And if you could not see in him the best that is, then blame yourself, not him. It's true. If someone misunderstands your words, it means that you have not expressed yourself clearly enough. In the Age of Aquarius, self-awareness is always needed, but not the self-awareness that is now.

When we break down the barriers of separation, we let in two rivers - River of Life and River of Love. I can't talk about these two rivers because I don't know what they are. Many talk about life and love, but these are just words.

I don't know yet what Life is, and we definitely don't know what Love is. It is interesting to try to explain to yourself what you mean by the River of Life and the River of Love, which, after the destruction of the walls, poured over humanity. We are rapidly entering the age of Energy, the age of Love. Did you know that a huge hole was punched in the walls during the war, and after the war, Love and Energy began to mean a little more than before?

When you have done everything in your power to break down the walls and to express Life and Love through your own Soul, whose nature is Love-Wisdom, seek no recognition. - you won't get it. The hard fate of a pioneer in any field of thought, a person who tries to express new ideals, has always been misunderstanding - sometimes worse. You will not be praised, it will not be easy for you, but remember: you are paving the way so that hatred and disunity can disappear in the future.

I like to think of Aquarius as the sign of "John the Baptist" in initiate terms. We are leaving the sign of Pisces in one sense, and in another sense we are moving into the age of Pisces when the Savior of the World will come. Considering the age of Aquarius as a sign of John the Baptist, we can similarly consider ourselves in our own areas, whatever they may be. From the point of view of the cosmic picture, doing everything possible for this time, we fulfill the function of John the Baptist and prepare the way for an extraordinary event that will happen when the Savior of the World appears again - then humanity will comprehend the next Great Truth and take a step towards it.

Sixth feat. Heracles cleans the Augean stables.

The king of Elis, Avgiy, was unspeakably rich. Countless herds of his bulls and sheep and herds of horses grazed in the fertile valley of the river Alfea. He had three hundred horses with legs as white as snow, two hundred were red as copper; twelve horses were all white as swans, and one of them had a star shining in its forehead.

Avgii had so many cattle that the servants did not have time to clean the barns and stables, and for many years manure had accumulated in them up to the very roofs.

King Eurystheus, wanting to please Augia and humiliate Hercules, sent the hero to clean the Augean stables.

Hercules appeared in Elis and said to Augeas:

If you give me a tenth of your horses, I will clear the stables in one day.

Augeas laughed: he thought that they could not be cleansed at all. So the king said to Hercules:

I will give you a tenth of my horses if you clear out my stables in one day.

Then Hercules demanded that they give him a shovel, and Augius, grinning, ordered to bring it to the hero.

How long will you have to work with this shovel! - he said.

Only one day, - said Hercules and went to the shore of Alpheus.

For half a day he worked diligently with a shovel. The earth took off from under it and lay down in a high shaft. Hercules dammed the riverbed and led it straight to the royal stables. The waters of Alpheus flowed rapidly through them, taking with them manure, stalls, feeders, even dilapidated walls.

Leaning on a shovel, Hercules watched how quickly the river worked, and only sometimes came to her aid. The stables were cleared by sunset.

Do not seek, the king, - said Hercules, - I cleared your stables not only from manure, but also from everything that was dilapidated and rotted long ago. I did more than I promised. Now you give me what you promised.

But the greedy Avgiy argued, began to scold and refused to give the horses to Hercules. Then Hercules became furious, entered into battle with Avgiy and killed him in a duel.
