The manual is intended to prepare 9th grade students for the state final certification in educational programs of basic general education in the form of the main state exam in English, as well as to control the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for passing the OGE.
The manual contains training materials for preparing for the exam and 5 sample options that test the skills and abilities of students in all sections of the exam: "Listening", "Reading", "Grammar and Vocabulary", "Writing" and "Speaking".
Each option consists of written and oral parts, which contain 36 tasks. The written part is designed for 120 minutes, the oral part - 15 minutes for each student.
The "Listening" section includes 8 tasks: 2 tasks for understanding the main content of the listened text (tasks 1 and 2) and 6 tasks for understanding the requested information in the listened text (tasks 3-8). All texts are placed on the accompanying CD with records, which provides for all repetitions and pauses.
In the "Reading" section of each option, 9 tasks are presented, the first of which (task 9) is aimed at understanding the main content of the read text and corresponds to tasks for establishing correspondence, and 8 tasks for understanding the requested information in the read text (tasks 10-17).

OGE in a foreign language is one of the selective exams for ninth graders. Examination in this subject is chosen by many high school graduates, because the prospect of getting into a specialized linguistic class is quite tempting. Well, the future associated with the use of a foreign language as a professional tool gives a chance to ensure good earnings and a decent standard of living.

Among all foreign languages studied by modern schoolchildren, English holds the palm. This is not surprising, because it is recognized as the language of international business and diplomatic communication. Practice shows that it is not so easy to pass the OGE in this subject - for a good grade, it is not enough to memorize the basic rules and language norms.

In addition to passing a written exam, in 2018 students will demonstrate their listening skills, as well as their ability to speak English. In addition to self-preparation and work with a tutor, you should also study the features and structure of the ticket, understand how points will be awarded, and also find out what innovations can await you in 2018 CIMs!

Demo version of OGE-2018

OGE dates in English

Rosobrnadzor has already announced the approximate schedule of the OGE for 2018. Students will take a foreign language (including English) on the following dates:

  • April 28 (Saturday) is scheduled for early delivery of a foreign language. The reserve day will be April 30, 2018 (Tuesday);
  • the main OGE will be held on May 25 (Friday). The reserve day for the main OGE will be June 20, 2018 (Wednesday);
  • an additional day for the delivery of a foreign language will be September 14 (Friday). Booked as a reserve on September 21, 2018 (Friday).

Changes in the OGE in English

In 2018, tickets in English were not subject to changes in terms of structure and content. The subject commission reports that the only innovation was the change in the criteria by which task number 33 (writing a letter of a personal nature) will be evaluated.

What is included in the KIM OGE in English?

The main purpose of the exam is to test the ability of ninth graders to communicate in English. The commission will test your skills in understanding oral speech, the ability to speak, read and write in English. It is the OGE that will determine whether the student is ready for high school education, and will also identify students who can be recommended for grades 10-11 with a linguistic bias. The structure of the ticket can be divided into two parts:

  • written part - sections of the ticket from the first to the fourth. Students will demonstrate their listening comprehension (listening) skills, as well as demonstrate English reading, writing and vocabulary skills. The maximum points that can be scored for this part of the KIM is 55;
  • oral part - consists of one section, which includes tasks from the speaking part. The maximum that can be obtained for the oral part of the ticket is 15 points.

The correct performance of all the tasks of KIM makes it possible to get 70 points.

Speaking will require not only knowledge of the rules, but also the ability to maintain a dialogue

In most tasks (namely, thirty-two), the student will be able to give a short answer to the question posed by establishing correspondences for the sets, choosing the correct answer from the list provided, filling in the gaps in the text, or converting words into the correct lexical form. Tasks with a detailed answer are writing a personal letter, reading aloud an excerpt from a popular science text, conducting a dialogue with a teacher and a monologue on a given topic. The entire ticket can be structurally divided into the following parts:

  • listening - includes tasks based on phrases used in everyday communication, informational texts and announcements. Each fragment sounds for about one and a half to two minutes and is played twice. The complexity of the tasks is identical to the language level A2;
  • reading - tasks are based on texts of a pragmatic, popular science, journalistic and artistic nature. The volume of the fragment is from 220 to 600 words. The complexity of the tasks corresponds to the language level A2;
  • grammar and vocabulary - tasks that will test the depth of understanding of school material and the ability to operate with it;
  • personal letter - writing a text of at least 100-120 words. Letters with less than 90 words will not be evaluated according to other criteria - the student will immediately receive 0 points for the entire task. It is equally dangerous to write a letter that is too large - if it contains more than 132 words, then the commission will check only the first 120 words in the work, and leave everything else unattended;
  • speaking - tasks involving the use of several types of vocabulary. Be prepared for the fact that you will have to use social vocabulary (talk about leisure activities, relationships with friends, hobbies, prominent cultural or scientific figures, environmental issues, etc.), as well as vocabulary from the educational and labor sphere (a dialogue is possible about the choice of a future profession or the role of a foreign language in different areas of our lives).

Regulations and features of the exam

The student will have to complete the tasks from the first four sections in 120 minutes. At the same time, the profile commission recommends the distribution of time as follows:

  • 30 minutes for listening (section 1);
  • 30 minutes for tasks that test reading skills (section 2);
  • 30 minutes - to identify skills in grammar and vocabulary (section 3);
  • 30 minutes for writing a personal letter and testing other written English skills (section 4).

15 minutes will be allotted for speaking.

Any textbooks and reference materials will have to be handed in before the start of the OGE

Students are not allowed to bring additional materials and subjects that are not related to the exam to the OGE. You can only take a pen with you. All other materials and equipment are provided by Rosobrnadzor - the classrooms will be equipped with technical means for playing audio recordings, and the speaking classes will be equipped with computers, sound recording programs and microphones necessary to record the student's answers.

How are primary scores translated into grades?

The points for the examination paper will be transferred to the usual school grading system. The translation scale looks like this:

  • from 0 to 28 points - "unsatisfactory" rating;
  • from 29 to 45 points are translated into the “satisfactory” mark and will allow you to get a certificate;
  • from 46 to 58 points means that the student will receive "good";
  • from 59 to 70 points are identical to the mark "excellent".

When students are assigned to specialized linguistic classes or enrolled in specialized lyceums, students who score 56 points and above have an advantage.

Preparation for the OGE in English

Remember: none of the foreign languages, including English, can be passed with a swoop! Only a long and competent preparation for the OGE will give a chance to successfully pass this test. First, identify possible gaps in knowledge - for this you need to download and work through the demo versions of KIMs published by FIPI. Demo versions of tests, files for audition and requirements codifier can be found at the beginning of the article.

Do not forget that knowledge of the rules of the English language is absolutely useless if it is not supported by the ability to perceive speech by ear and speak a foreign language. To prepare for listening, regularly listen to audio books and English-language music, watch movies and television series in the original dubbing (it is better not to watch videos with subtitles - a line with words will distract your attention from listening to the speech of the characters).

Take enough time to prepare for the OGE - you should start in September

Speaking is another problem for 9th grade graduates. Vocabulary, grammar and writing usually bring students good points, but when conducting a dialogue or monologue, many are lost. To practice speaking, it is worth playing everyday scenes in your head, having small dialogues with friends, sisters, brothers, moms and dads, and also describing in English the situations that have just happened to you in the cinema, supermarkets and buses.

Do not forget that you may be asked to talk about a famous person. Watch a series of BBC or other popular science programs that talk about world-famous artists, writers and scientists, take notes by ear, check the spelling, and then regularly read your text and listen to recordings of broadcasts.

Writing a personal letter in response to an incentive letter.

A student in the OGE in English is required to write a letter to a friend in response, based on the information provided in the assignment.

The time allotted for the task is 30 minutes.

The maximum score is 10 points.

TASK EXECUTION PLAN

In order to get a good score for the Writing section in the OGE in English, try following these tips:

  1. Stand the genre

Fortunately, in the OGE (GIA) in English there is only one format for a written assignment - a personal letter to a friend.

Imagine that you are talking in person.

Try to ask questions to maintain the interest of the addressee, add details and express your personal attitude.

Words and expressions should not be formal, as in real communication with your friends.

Informal writing also suggests the presence of short forms:

it's instead of it is,

I've seen instead of I have seen

  1. It is important to stick to the 100-120 word limit

Writing less than 90 words will not be graded at all and you will receive a 0 out of 10 for this part of the exam.

Part of the text of the letter, exceeding 132 words, is not evaluated, in this case, getting 0 points is much less likely,

120 words will be counted from the beginning of your letter and only those words will be checked,

the mark will definitely be lowered for the structure of the letter,

because the prescribed volume will not include the obligatory farewell and signature for a personal letter.

  1. It is necessary to adhere to a clear structure of the letter

1 paragraph - address and date (in the upper right corner)

2 paragraph - appeal and greeting

3 paragraph - reaction to a friend's information

4 paragraph - the answer to 1 friend's question

5 paragraph - the answer to the 2nd question of a friend

6 paragraph - the answer to the 3rd question of a friend

(or answers to all questions together in one paragraph)

7 paragraph - a message about the desirability of receiving a response

8 paragraph - signature

answer them in one word

as, however, and ignore the message of your friend.

To get the maximum score, each question should be answered in sufficient detail - about 2 sentences.

  1. You should show the examiner the variety of vocabulary and grammatical structures that you know

synonyms, antonyms, words from the same language family

as many different grammatical structures as possible within a given volume.

Impress the tester with the knowledge of different tenses, complex sentences, degrees of comparison of adjectives and conditional moods.

  1. The letter should be logical and connected

check the consistency and logic of the presentation of your thoughts

link separate paragraphs with introductory words - well, by the way, you asked me about ... etc.

  1. The letter must be lexically and grammatically correct.

Try to write avoiding words and structures that you are not sure about, and check the final letter for typos and spelling errors.

Greetings, dear readers!

School life is gaining momentum, and many will have to make an important decision regarding the delivery of certain subjects this school year. Some of my students have opted for English. Of course, I support them and start publishing a new section on the site, in which I will post materials from recommendations for the successful passing of the OGE in English, examples of tasks, analysis of typical mistakes.

What do you need to know?

Tell me, how many of you know how to play golf? No? Strange, because this is a purely English game. To be honest, I don't either...

“But what does golf have to do with it?” - you ask. It's simple - to play this game (and any other), you need to know the rules.

Golf(English) golf) - a sports game in which individual participants or teams compete by driving a small ball into special holes with clubs, trying to cover the allotted distance in the minimum number of strokes. In each game, the player must play a certain number of holes (usually 18) in a certain order.

In the same way, at the OGE, you need to complete a certain number of tasks (usually 36), while making the minimum number of errors and keeping within the allotted time for this.

Without knowing the format of the exam and the types of tasks, even a strong student will find it difficult to cope with the task. As Radislav Petrovich Milrud said in one of the forums for teachers, “Testing with limited time is a special skill.”

What should a teacher prepare students for an exam?

Firstly, to familiarize yourself with the regulatory documents on the FIPI website, and secondly, to explain in an accessible form to your wards what tasks they have to perform, how much time is allotted for each section and how to fill out the answer forms correctly.

What needs to be done by a student who is preparing to take the OGE in English?

You can independently (on the same FIPI website) see the assignments and recommendations for their implementation in the demo version of the current year, and then approach your school teacher and please him with your sudden decision to take the OGE in English! Be prepared for the fact that his reaction can be very unpredictable - from restrainedly positive to extremely negative, especially if you do not live in a big city, do not study at an English special school, and, in general, your art teacher teaches English.

What kind of nonsense I wrote here, many of you will think. But in the vastness of our vast Motherland, this does not happen!

What to do? Study English, no matter what, I will answer you. And if you have reached these lines, then you are in the right place and at the right time. So here we go!

Structure of the OGE (main state exam)

The examination paper consists of two parts:

  • written(sections 1–4), which includes tasks for listening, reading, writing, as well as tasks for monitoring the lexical and grammatical skills of graduates
  • oral(section 5), which consists of 3 speaking tasks

All you have to do 36 tasks , which are divided into two levels of difficulty:

  • level 1 includes 19 tasks, the maximum number of points is 34
  • level 2 includes 17 tasks, the maximum number of points is 36

The total points for the entire work - 70

Scale for converting OGE scores into grades

5 - 59 - 70 points

4 - 46 - 58 points

3 - 29 - 45 points

2 - 0 - 28 points

The results of your exam can be used for admission to specialized secondary school classes. A guideline for selection in profile classes can be an indicator whose lower limit corresponds to 56 points.

The duration of the OGE in foreign languages

The time for completing the first four sections of the examination paper, that is, the written part - 120 minutes (2 hours).

section 1 (listening tasks) - 30 minutes;

section 2 (reading tasks) - 30 minutes;

section 3 (tasks on grammar and vocabulary) - 30 minutes;

section 4 (writing task) - 30 minutes.

Oral response time is 15 minutes per respondent.

Until today, the answer to the question “Is the oral part (speaking) held on the same day as the written part, or is the exam held in two days?” remains open to me. The guys who took the OGE in 2016 told me that the exam took place on the same day (from 9:00 to 16:00). That is, each student waited in line and entered the classroom at a certain time for him. On the forums of English teachers, I was given the following answer: “The exam is taken in two stages with an interval of 2-3 days for preparation”, which is in accordance with the Order of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation of January 26, 2016. According to the approved schedule, the OGE in English was held on May 28 and June 7.

Probably, this issue will be resolved locally in each individual school.

Additional materials and equipment

Each classroom for conducting the written part of the OGE in foreign languages must be equipped with a technical tool that ensures high-quality reproduction of audio recordings on CDs for completing the tasks of section 1 "Listening tasks". Audiences for the oral part of the exam must be equipped with computers with pre-installed special software, as well as headsets with built-in microphones. For the oral part of the exam, language laboratories with appropriate equipment can be used.

  • Make a decision as soon as possible (September) on passing the OGE in English
  • Familiarize yourself with the structure of the exam
  • Regularly complete tasks from the open bank of tasks posted on the FIPI website, including the demo version of the current year's OGE
  • Purchase the textbooks and manuals you need to prepare for the exam
  • Read site updates regularly smashtrash.ru
  • Find a good teacher who will help you prepare for the OGE
  • Learn how to properly allocate time for each section of the exam
  • During preparation, do NOT ignore new vocabulary, but try to learn as many new words as possible
  • Several times (better during the holidays) write a trial exam to see your approximate results and analyze weaknesses
  • Be sure to print and learn how to fill out the exam forms

In the next article, we will take a closer look at the rules for filling out exam forms. I will also review recommended textbooks and manuals. for the successful passing of the OGE.

OGE in English 2018

OGE in English- one of the group of exams in foreign languages in the 9th grade. In terms of structure, complexity and type of tasks, it is almost identical to exams in German, French and Spanish. The exam is optional for passing, but its results will be required for graduates to continue their studies in the specialized classes of high school (10th and 11th grades).

After reviewing the general information about the exam, you can immediately begin to prepare. The 2018 KIM OGE variant does not differ from the 2017 variant.

The structure of the OGE test

The division of tasks in the structure of the exam is carried out on the basis of various topics of knowledge of the language:

  • part 1 - listening tasks, 5 tasks in total, include both questions with a short answer and with a choice of an answer option;
  • part 2 - tasks for reading the text and answering questions similar to listening questions, a total of 5 tasks;
  • part 3 - grammar tasks - suggest a short answer to the question posed - 12 tasks;
  • part 4 - self-writing the text of the letter in response to an English-speaking friend;
  • part 5 - oral answer to the question and dialogue with the examiner on a given topic, the duration of the answer is 6 minutes, preparation for the answer is about 10 minutes.

TIPS FOR SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THE TASKS IN THIS SECTION

A big mistake many students do on listening assignments is to ignore the assignments themselves before listening.

half of the success here is working with tasks at the stage before listening to audio materials

  • Read carefully and “tune your ears” to the topic that will be discussed
  • Underline key words in each question
  • Try to predict the answer or vocabulary you are preparing to hear

the second step on the way to good scores in this section of the OGE will be direct listening and execution of buildings

  • When listening, write down important words or make notes on the question sheet (both in Russian and in English)
  • Check your answers when listening again, so that it does not turn out that some important fact was missed due to inattention
  • Do not leave spaces (questions without answers), because, firstly, there is always a chance to guess the correct option, but, more importantly, not to make a mistake when transferring to the answer sheet (to prevent shifting answers)
EXAMPLE OF COMPLETING TASK №2

Let's try to apply the above tactics on one example.

One of the answers (No. 2) to task 2:

Highlight key words:

The speaker talks about his/her after-class activity.

We make assumptions about what can be heard in a monologue about events held at the end of compulsory lessons - these can be:

  • sports sections, for example, in the following sports – football, basketball, volleyball…,
  • art circles, and then you expect to hear, for example, the verbs draw - draw / paint, or perform - act / perform ...

Speaker D mentions the following additional activities available at the school: gym, swimming pool, volleyball, chemistry laboratory.

We have one 100% hit of our guess with what we heard - volleyball l, but even if it weren't there, for similar options - football, basketball, we would already be able to determine the correct answer.

  • Changes in the examination paper in 2018 compared to 2017.

    There are no changes in the structure and content of KIM. However, in 2018, clarifications were made to the assessment criteria for completing assignment 33 “Personal letter”.

    Passing the OGE in foreign languages implies the obligatory participation of students in the performance of written tasks, as well as tasks in the "Speaking" section.

    The procedure does not provide for the refusal of students to participate in the OGE in foreign languages (section "Speaking").

    In order to optimize the time spent in the PES of participants in the OGE in foreign languages, the JIU decides to choose one of the schemes for organizing the exam for all participants in the OGE in foreign languages:

    Conducting an exam in foreign languages (simultaneously the written part and the oral part (section "Speaking") on one of the days provided for by the schedule;

    Conducting an exam in foreign languages (simultaneously the written part and the oral part of the “Speaking” section) on two days, provided for by the schedule;

    Conducting the written part of the exam on one day, and the oral part (section "Speaking") - on another day, provided for by the schedule.

    OIV chooses one of the proposed schemes for conducting the OGE in foreign languages for the entire subject of the Russian Federation as a whole

    Written part examination paper in English consists of four sections, including 33 tasks.

    2 hours (120 minutes) are given to complete the tasks of the written part of the examination paper.

    In section 1 (listening tasks) it is proposed to listen to several texts and complete 8 comprehension tasks for the listened texts. The recommended time to complete the tasks in this section is 30 minutes.

    Section 2 (reading tasks) contains 9 reading comprehension tasks. Recommended time to complete this section is 30 minutes.

    Section 3 (tasks on grammar and vocabulary) consists of 15 tasks. Recommended time to complete this section is 30 minutes.

    oral part KIM OGE in English includes 3 tasks.

    Task 1 involves reading aloud a short text of a popular science nature. Preparation time - 1.5 minutes.

    In task 3, it is necessary to build a coherent monologue statement on a specific topic based on the plan. Preparation time - 1.5 minutes.

    The total response time for one OGE participant (including preparation time) is 15 minutes. Each subsequent task is issued after the completion of the previous task. All responses are audio-recorded.

    The purpose of this manual is to help 9th grade students prepare for the English language exam in the form of the main state exam (OGE) as soon as possible. It can also be useful for teachers who will find in it the necessary material for working in the classroom.
    The collection contains typical training options for examination papers that can be used as practical material for preparing for the exam. The manual is focused on adaptation to test control technologies, taking into account their new format and content.
    In accordance with the demonstration version of the OGE, the training options consist of a written and an oral part. The written part of the work consists of four sections ("Assignments for listening", "Assignments for reading", "Assignments for grammar and vocabulary", "Assignment for writing"), which includes 33 tasks.
    Section 1 (“Listening tasks”) contains 8 tasks, of which the first two are for establishing correspondence and 6 tasks with the choice of one correct answer out of three proposed. The recommended time to complete the section is 30 minutes.
    Section 2 (“Reading tasks”) contains 9 tasks, one of which is to establish correspondence and 8 tasks with the choice of one correct answer from three proposed. The recommended time to complete the section is 30 minutes.
    Section 3 (“Grammar and Vocabulary Tasks”) contains 15 short answer tasks. The recommended time to complete the section is 30 minutes.
    Section 4 (“Writing Assignment”) is a small written task (writing a personal letter). The recommended time to complete the section is 30 minutes.
    The total time for the written part of the exam is 120 minutes.

    In a foreign language - one of the selective exams for ninth graders.

    • April 28 (Saturday) is scheduled for early delivery of a foreign language. The reserve day will be April 30, 2018 (Tuesday);
    • the main OGE will be held on May 25 (Friday). The reserve day for the main OGE will be June 20, 2018 (Wednesday);

    • written part - sections of the ticket from the first to the fourth. Students will demonstrate their listening comprehension (listening) skills, as well as demonstrate English reading, writing and vocabulary skills. The maximum points that can be scored for this part of the KIM is 55;
    • oral part - consists of one section, which includes tasks from the speaking part.

    • listening - includes tasks based on phrases used in everyday communication, informational texts and announcements. Each fragment sounds for about one and a half to two minutes and is played twice. The complexity of the tasks is identical to the language level A2;
    • reading - tasks are based on texts of a pragmatic, popular science, journalistic and artistic nature. The volume of the fragment is from 220 to 600 words. The complexity of the tasks corresponds to the language level A2;
    • grammar and vocabulary - tasks that will test the depth of understanding of school material and the ability to operate with it;
    • personal letter - writing a text of at least 100-120 words. Letters with less than 90 words will not be evaluated according to other criteria - the student will immediately receive 0 points for the entire task. It is equally dangerous to write a letter that is too large - if it contains more than 132 words, then the commission will check only the first 120 words in the work, and leave everything else unattended;

    • 30 minutes for listening (section 1);
    • 30 minutes for tasks that test reading skills (section 2);
    • 30 minutes - to identify skills in grammar and vocabulary (section 3);

    • from 0 to 28 points - "unsatisfactory" rating;
    • from 29 to 45 points are translated into the “satisfactory” mark and will allow you to get a certificate;
    • from 46 to 58 points means that the student will receive "good";
    • from 59 to 70 points are identical to the mark "excellent".
